- 8 oz. ginger snaps (I use gluten-free ginger snaps, which are increasingly easy to find)
- 4 prunes (pitted)
- 2 Tbsp. dried cranberries (or dried sour cherries)
- 1 piece toasted pine nuts
- 2 oz. pecan
- 1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg (freshly)
- 1/4 tsp. canela
- 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. anise seed (lightly crushed, optional, but recommended)
- 1 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 orange (grated)
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa (optional . . . replace with confectioners’ sugar)
- 1/4 cup plum brandy (or apple or other fruit brandy, or rum)
- granulated sugar (Superfine, for rolling)
