Description
These quintessential Middle Eastern cookies star on tables during special occasions and holidays such as Eid and Christmas. They’re decadent, lightly sweet, and elegant, thanks to a little orange blossom water, which gives these "ordinary" sugar cookies a taste of the East. Look for orange blossom water in grocery stores with cocktail preparations, at any Middle Eastern grocer, or online. The recipe, which makes 16 large cookies, is a Yummly original created by Rania Renno.
Ingredients

16 SERVINGS
- 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. orange blossom water (use 2 tsp. if you’d like more prominent flavor)
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 Tbsp. raw pistachios (unsalted, or use roasted nuts if raw aren’t available)

Directions
- In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar on medium-low speed until ingredients are well incorporated, about 3 minutes. Add orange blossom water and mix on low speed for another minute. Turn the mixer off.
- Gradually add flour, mixing dough with your hands or a wooden spoon, until ingredients are well combined and no clumps are present. The dough will feel crumbly at first, but keep mixing, pressing together with your hands if needed, until it adheres and forms a ball. Remove dough from bowl, wrap it in plastic wrap or seal in an airtight container, and chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F with racks set in upper and lower third. Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper.
