- 250 grams yellow split peas
- 100 grams red lentils
- 1,350 mL water
- 150 grams onion (chopped, about 3 small onions)
- 5 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 tsp. fresh ginger (grated)
- 50 grams clarified butter
- 1/3 tsp. asafoetida (not essential if you can’t get it, but if you can it's delicious - when cooked)
- 1 tsp. black mustard seeds
- 1 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1 red chilli (dried)
- 1 tsp. Garam Masala
- 2 tsp. ground coriander
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 Tbsp. chicken stock concentrate (or 1 stock cube - optional)
- 2 tsp. salt
- 25 grams clarified butter
- 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp. coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp. black mustard seeds
- 2 green cardamom pods
- 1 tsp. Garam Masala (optional)
- coriander leaf (chopped fresh cilantro, fresh)
