When I originally started making these, I was looking for a recipe similar to my Swiss grandma's sour cream twists. (Those were more of a bread. My mom has since sent me the real recipe which I may share here someday.) I was using 3 recipe apps and Google to search and started making the wrong one. Once I started, I was committed to cookies today. I made these with all butter, no lard, as I didn't have lard on hand. I made some cutt 1/2" and some cut at 1"...both worked fine. Great flavor. I will definitely make these again.
