It was a great base. I modified it with:
- 1 onion chopped and cooked with meat
- minced garlic
- pepper
- milk

Delicious. Tastes so good. You have to like onion dip though. I added the fried onions in the last 5 min, & only to the portion I was eating so that they wouldn’t get soggy on the leftovers. I will add them as I eat it. I followed the recommendation of previous reviewers to use the onion soup mix so I mixed with Greek yogurt. Lastly, I used spaghetti squash instead of noodles. This recipe is a winner. Would be great with peas or whatever else you want to add.

I followed the advice of sour cream and adding onion soup mix instead of the Lay's dip. it was okay, but kind of bland. I added onion to the hamburger and salt and pepper. Everyone ate it, no complaints. Just seemed to be missing something.

This was really good when it first came out of the oven. Reheated in the microwave next day, not so much.

This IS a simple stick to your ribs type of meal.
I tweaked a few things based on suggestions from reviewers & my personal taste.
I thinly sliced a yellow onion and sweat it with some oil in the same big pan I eventually cooked the beef in . I Set those onions aside until I finished browning beef. I drained my beef and wiped out the pan to make sure it was evenly covered but not saturated w/grease. Then put beef back in pan on low & added in those onions from earlier.
I added in the mixture of soup and dip*
*Instead of a jar of French onion dip, I used 1 container (16 oz/2 cups) of sour
cream and French onion soup mix.
I used a 12 oz box of bow tie pasta, which sucked up more liquid, therefore I added some milk (probably a half a cup) to thin it out a little (because it’s heating in oven for 30 minutes next.)
Lastly, I poured half of my container (2 cups) of Fried French onions into mixture.
That other half went evenly on top like instructed.
Enjoy. ;)

Excellent dish! The whole family enjoyed. Didn’t have egg noodles, so substituted fettuccine. Can’t wait to make this again.

I'm not a fan of jarred dip, so I used 16oz light sour cream and french onion soup mix. i also added peas as i seen another reviewer mention. The dish came out good, just a little dry so i might add some milk the next go around.

It turned out really well. I took someone else’s comment on putting red bell peppers in it and I also added fresh mushroom. Absolutely delicious!!

very tasty ! I had 3#s of ground turkey I had to use up and only 2 cans of cream of mushroom so i added a can of water to the meat (could have added beef broth) and 2 packets of the onion soup mix because of how much meat i had. My version probably was not as saucy as the original but it was not dry either, still very tasty!!

Awesome every time! I cut up an onion and garlic and a 16 oz of sour cream with Lipton Onion soup mix instead of the dip.

Exactly what you would expect. Not extraordinary but good, If I made it again I would add sweet, sauteed onions.

was actually really good! put a layer of cheese on top and.. well, we were prepared to be slightly disapointed, but was very satisfied!
