As far as physical appearance mine turned out exactly the way it did in the picture. I don’t think I added as much sugar but that didn’t bother me. Despite the vanilla, I thought it lacked a little flavor so I ended up sprinkling a few salt crystals on each pancake as it was cooking. That made the difference for me. If I decide to make these again, I’ll increase the salt to half a teaspoon.

These pancakes are the best! I make them frequently for my family and they can’t get enough of them. The batch makes more than stated in the recipe depending on the size. If you are in need of a quick breakfast for the kids they freeze well!

Very fluffy. I add a little milk so that it is easier to pour onto the griddle.

Best pancakes out of 5 recipes I’ve tried from the Yumly repertoire. Light & fluffy as promised in the recipe. Must be the buttermilk that makes all the difference. This is my go-to from here on. Thank you to the creator of this recipe. Am giving 5 stars but unable to tap 5 stars.

Didn’t have buttermilk, so I used greek yogurt instead, batter turned out too thick, so added almond milk until thin it out until spreadable. Think I’ll just try only almond milk next time, or 1/2 and 1/2 mix pancakes were tasty but a bit dense

Edit: We make them with the buttermilk 98% of the time. Continues to be THE pancake recipe we all use. I pour vanilla with my heart, so that is about the only thing i change. The easy to remember numbers mean that this is a great recipe to make with a kiddo, and it after years of making these - I'll make a double batch every few months and freeze them in small groups for later for the kids - I just have to look up the baking soda and baking powder measures. live recipes like this that can become ingraine.
Original review 3 years ago: These are the best pancakes I have ever made or eaten - anywhere. In spite of the recommendation of buttermilk I did not have any at the moment. I had cream left over from holiday cooking though. I put together 1\4 cup heavy cream with 1 3/4 cup whole milk and 2 Tbsp. vinegar to make my buttermilk. I used the whole mix so my liquid ratio was just slightly higher but that was not a problem. I am cooking in Texas at a fairly low altitude, so that might be different if you are at a higher altititude.

Pancakes were great. A little thin. I used brown cane sugar instead of white sugar and my family loved them!
