Description
Dried figs need to be softened a bit by soaking in boiling hot water for a few minutes, which is the essential first step in this recipe. After that, they are added to a "simple syrup" made by boiling sugar and water with the desired flavorings, such as the lemon peel and cinnamon stick used here, and allowed to cook until the syrup reduces and the figs become wonderfully soft.

- 1 kg figs (small)
- 600 grams sugar
- 200 mL water
- 2 strips lemon peel
- 1 cinnamon stick

Directions
- Rinse the figs.
- Bring a pot of water to boil, add the figs and soak for about 5 minutes.
- Drain well.
