Don’t forget the bread circles. Make room on the baking sheet for them. Serve the toast circle with the Egg-in-a-Hole!

I have been making this, my way, for over 60 years.
First I butter the bread on both sides............ after making a hole in each piece.
Then, in a frying pan, I gently toast one side of each bread piece.
After turning the bread over I crack an egg into the hole(s).
Fry for about 1-2 minutes on medium heat....... and turn over for about 30 seconds.
For those last 30 seconds I sometimes add a slice of cheese, to melt, on top.
We call this "Rocky Mt. Eggs" because the campers in said mountains would make this on the flat bottoms of large, empty cans over a campfire. Soooo delicious!

took much longer than it would to make it in a frying pan. And the eggs were very dry..... I did not like this.

I used French Toast seasonings (allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon) to spice mune up. I dont know if it's because i was up all night and lost all sense of time or if it was a thing with my oven, but it wasn't as fast as i expected, it felt like half an hour before it was done but is was good!

this was done in about 9 min in the wlabs smart oven. glad to be able to see the progress from the oven window or could have been overcooked.

This turned out amazing!! I added shredded cheese to the bread border and I think that added something.

It was quick, easy, and tasted great. The bread was crunchy and the egg was not overcooked. This recipe is the baseline to add more things to it. Will make it again.
