This is my favorite pickled egg recipe. I have made it several times and have served it at social gatherings. It get rave reviews! The pickling spice needs to have a lower clove amount than many commercial pickling spice mixes have and that is a component of successful pickled eggs. I use this recipe enough to put together my own pickling spice mix. There is a "Homemade Pickling Spice" recipe on all recipes that I make and I cut the cloves down from 6 cloves to only 2 cloves. Perfect!
