- 1 lb. rice cakes (about 2 ½ cups)
- 1 cup fish cakes (cut into bite sized pieces if needed)
- 2 tsp. toasted sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp. sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
- 2 stalks scallions (for garnish, optional)
- 3 Tbsp. Korean red pepper paste (gochujang -)
- 1 Tbsp. red pepper flakes (Korean, also called gochujaru)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar (add more to taste)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. soy sauce (add more to taste)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- stock (Anchovy, substitute with chicken stock or water)
- 3 1/2 cups water
- 1 flavoring (anchovy, packet)
- 2 hard boiled eggs (large)
- 1 cup vegetables (cabbage, carrots, onions - chopped into medium pieces)
- 1/4 cup stock (more anchovy)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (add right before serving)
