- 1 medium onion (peeled and diced, about 1 cup)
- 1 Tbsp. fresh garlic (minced)
- 6 bay leaves (medium dried)
- 8 sprigs fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 tsp. dried parsley
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 6 cups chicken broth (add more as needed)
