Description
What do you get when you combine the most important meal of the day with two of your favorite foods of all time? You get a sausage breakfast pizza recipe, of course…
Breakfast pizza may or may not have been born in the Midwest (though many Midwesterners justifiably make this claim). At the same time, who among us has not one time indulged in a slice of last night’s leftover pizza for breakfast? Or, if you have ever gotten up in the morning and ate toast topped with melted cheese and marinara sauce, then essentially you, too, have had a breakfast pizza.
So the next logical step is to come up with some official pizza breakfast recipes — like our sausage breakfast pizza. It has all the breakfast-food staples, like eggs, cheese, hash browns, and sausage. But rather than serving these ingredients separately, it’s delivered on a crusty, baked crescent roll pie crust.
The sausage we suggest using in this recipe is Jimmy Dean® Regular Premium Pork Sausage. It’s mild, but deeply-smoky and savory pork sausage made with signature spices. For a more intense kick first thing in the morning, consider using Jimmy Dean® Hot Premium Pork Sausage. Or, since pizza comes from Italian cuisine, Premium Italian Pork Sausage, made with Jimmy Dean’s® signature blend of Italian spices, is a perfect ingredient for this homemade breakfast pizza recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pkg. Jimmy Dean® Premium Pork Sausage (rolled into teaspoon size balls)
- 2 flatbreads (naan)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 slices cooked bacon (chopped)
- 4 eggs (scrambled)
- 1/2 cup grape tomatoes (halved)
- 1 avocado (large, sliced)
- 2/3 cup fresh arugula
- salt
- pepper
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
- In a large skillet, brown the Jimmy Dean® Premium Pork Sausage mini sausage balls over medium heat until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off the grease and place the sausage balls on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Place the flatbreads on a large baking sheet or on two round pizza pans. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the flatbread. Top with cooked sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs.
- Place the pizzas in the oven and cook until the cheese is melted, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with tomatoes, avocado slices, and arugula. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve immediately.
