- 1/2 cup pigeon pea (split, Arhar Dal / Toor Dal/ Tuvar Dal)
- 1/2 cup moong dal (Whole Green Mung /)
- 1/2 cup bengal gram (split, Chana Dal)
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 1/4 inch ginger (finely chopped)
- 1 green chili (chopped or lengthwise slit)
- 1 tsp. turmeric powder
- 3 coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1/2 tsp. Garam Masala
- salt (as per taste)
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 3 Tbsp. ghee (Butter. Alternatively you can use 3 ½ tbsp Vegetable oil (I prefer Sunflower oil but you can use Canola or any vegetable oil) I personally prefer to use a mixture of 1 tbsp Ghee and 1 tbsp oil to start with and then 1 more tbsp. of Ghee at the end)
- 1 tsp. cumin seeds (Jeera)
- 6 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 tomato (mushy medium size, chopped)
- 1 chopped onion (medium)
- 1/4 inch ginger (chopped / paste)
- 2 red chili (I used slit green chilli)
- 1/2 tsp. chilli powder (I used Kashmiri red chili powder)
- 1 Tbsp. coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1 pinch asafetida (hing)
- 1 tsp. kasuri methi (crushed, dry fenugreek leaves)
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp. cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp. coriander powder
- 1 tsp. Garam Masala
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- salt (to taste)
