- 2 cups dates (chopped)
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 cup toasted pecans (or walnuts if you prefer, I toast mine on a cookie sheet in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 5-7 minutes, tossing at least once during that time.)
