- 1 head cabbage (chopped, about 1 3/4 -2 lbs. after chopping)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 red bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 2 small carrots (large or 3, cut in small rounds or chopped)
- 2 cups ham (diced lean, 1 1/4 lbs. ham)
- 1 tsp. Spike Seasoning (or use other all-purpose seasoning mix if you don't have Spike)
- 1 tsp. granulated garlic
- 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
- 1 Tbsp. seasoning (Vegeta Gourmet, If you don't have this, just use a bit more of the other seasonings or a T of another type of dried soup flavoring)
- 2 bay leaves
- coarse ground black pepper (to taste, I used a generous amount of pepper)
- 6 cups stock (You can also use chicken or vegetable stock.)
- 2 cups water
- Parmesan cheese (for serving, optional, but good)
