Did as directed, except simmered beans for 50 minutes. Much to my dismay I didn't have BBQ sauce😫, I had homemade spicy ketchup which tastes like BBQ so added it. Put in 2 chili peppers. Drained the beans and put back in pot with all ingredients and brought to a boil, then poured in crockpot. Just had some. WOW! This is a 10 star recipe! I will never make another recipe. This could be handed down in my will,lol. It's that good!

My family loved these. Was a little concerned after I read the review about throwing theirs out because of grease. I made my the day before and after refrigeration I was able to skim off unwanted fat, however, there wasn’t that much to skim. I will definitely make again. Oh, and only used 1/2 cup bourbon, but I think I might step it up a notch or so next time.
