- 1 1/2 cups part skim shredded mozzarella cheese (shredded, divided)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly, about 1 1/4 ounces)
- 2 jars red pasta sauce (good-quality, 24-ounce jars divided)
- 16 oz. noodles (uncooked whole wheat ziti or penne, or swap a similar short, hollow noodle—see notes if not using whole wheat)
- fresh basil (Chopped, or parsley, optional for serving)
