Okay ladies and gents, made this tonight but with my own tweaks! I coated the chicken in flour, Italian herbs, garlic powder, basil, cilantro, celery salt, rosemary, salt, black pepper and cooked the chicken for about 2 minuets per side in a cast iron skillet with about a teaspoon of olive oil in it. I removed the chicken, put it in the bottom of the crock pot the poured a can of Natural light beer (all we had) over the chicken, then added about a cup of chicken stock, I then sprinkled all the seasonings I used in the pot with the addition of dried minced onions. I stirred it all up and flipped the chicken a few times. I let it cook for 3 hours on low then I flipped the chicken, poured another can of beer in it then cooked on high for 45 minuets. I the allowed it to cook for another hour. I scooped out 3 ladles of the broth and put some arrowroot powder in it as a thickener to make gravy for the rice pilaf I made. Serves with green beans. Super yummy and healthy! Will make agin!!! **** use a meat thermometer to temp your chicken to make sure it’s done and not over cooked! Didn’t even need a knife, percent pull a part chicken!

Is what it is. Nice thing about this recipe is that there are hundreds of variations with different styles of beers and herbs/spices. Kids liked it with mashed potatoes and went back for seconds. Will make again but not add to the formal rotation. This time through used Samuel Adams stout and oregano.

Not enough flavor - the chicken tasted bland & I added more salt and garlic as well as honey to try to up the flavor

I added extra garlic and used an IPA. The recipe was great! Next time I think I would use chicken thighs or bone in breasts to make it juicier. Some of the reviews spoke to the color and the chicken being dry. My advise, definitely cook on low, turnover the chicken at least once during the cooking time and use the sauce! Yummy!

Best chicken ever! It was so easy to make and the chicken was so tender! I used Killians and added a little extra garlic.

This was so easy and super yummy! Used Guinness as the beer and also used a tall can not just a bottle and added in some onion powder and some honey in addition to the ingredients listed here. went great with the ranch potatoes I made!

It doesn't look anything like the picture it was bland and dry. There was no flavor! It tasted like chicken you would serve in a nursing home

This was excellent!! The chicken completely fell apart & would've been perfect for pulled chicken sandwiches. I used Guinness as suggested, garlic salt, thyme & Rosemary. I did not use the sauce, but instead, just pulled out the chicken, served it w/mashed potatoes and Italian green beans for a great meal for low calories. I also dipped it in BBQ sauce to add a little more flavor. Next time I am going to try the whiskey suggestion and/or add some honey, which I think would make it even better!! Great find! 😋

This is the most bland, I've ever made. Absolutely flavorless. It also was not a pretty sight when it came out of the crockpot...so embarrassing that this is what I chose to make for guests.

Looked nothing like the picture. Dry. No one liked it, and it's hard to mess up chicken!
Don't bother.

I may not be the ideal audience for this type of recipe, but I was really interested in trying it out based on the picture and the description. I followed the recipe instructions exactly, but used an IPA because that was the only beer I had at home. Like Ed D. said, my chicken breasts look nothing like the ones pictured. They were chalky white and they pulled apart very easily but were very dry. The flavor and smell were exactly that of the beer, which wasn't too my taste. I cooked this dish for my significant other, who likes beer a lot, but even he said it just tasted like dry chicken someone had spilled beer on. I don't know if I did something wrong, or the IPA was simply a poor choice, but I will not be trying this recipe again.

This was really good. I used more spices, browned the breasts first, and used a Belgium ale. It didn't have enough sauce for me so I added 1 cup of chicken stock and thickened it with corn starch. Yummy. The chicken fell apart and soaked up the sauce.. In all fairness tho, I had more than 2 lbs of chicken breasts.
Will make again!!!!
