- 1/16 tsp. almond extract (about 2 drops)
- food coloring (optional:)
- 14 oz. corn cobs (from about 4 ears, sliced into 1-inch thick rounds)
- 42 oz. water (preferably filtered)
- 1 vanilla bean (split and scraped)
- 36 oz. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
