  • 32 ounces chicken stock (or broth)
  • 1/2 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 2 cloves garlic (peeled and smashed)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 yellow onion (large, quartered then cut into eighths)
  • 6 potatoes (large white, peeled and chopped into 1 1/2 inch chunks)
  • 1 rutabaga (large, also known as yellow turnip peeled and chopped into 1 1/2 inch chunks)
  • 6 carrots (large, peeled and chopped into 1 1/2 inch pieces)
  • 1 head green cabbage (core removed and quartered, you can halve the quarters into eighths if you wish)
