- 1/2 cup cold water
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter (half of one stick or 1/4 cup softened, sub for vegan butter to make dairy-free)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup pecans (or walnuts chopped, divided, optional, omit if you have a nut allergy or only using marshmallows)
- 2 cups mini marshmallows (optional, or sub for vegan marshmallows)

Great sweet potato casserole. I usually just use canned yams but this had so a better texture and was not difficult at all. I made it up to the point of the marshmallow and refrigerated overnight. Then it was easy to heat and toast the top right before Thanksgiving dinner. I will definitely make this again.

This turned out so good! I never would have thought to add in all the extra yummy spices and vanilla. I did have some spare sour cream that I added. It was delicious! I will definitely be using his recipe again.

I made this with very “pale “ sweet potatoes that were not very sweet. I used a little less brown sugar than 3/4 cup. (Sometimes these casseroles are too sweet for me) Other than the pale color of the potatoes- it was great! A milder version on the sweeter casserole.

I have made this many times and each time I able to make modifications that are my families favorite this is a simple recipe but you have options to personalize it

The best recipe I have used yet! You can substitute different nuts and it still tastes great!

Turned out amazing and so easy to make and prepare ahead of time! I made one for a work pot luck the night before and one fresh thanksgiving day. Pecans are a great addition.

It turned out super good! I didnt have any real sweet potatoes so I used 2 big cans of yams. The crunch from the pecans and marshmallows gave it just the right balance and the spices were perfect. Definitely on my go to list!
