It turned out great and was enjoyed by all. I doubled the recipe and used about 2/3 ground beef and 1/3 ground lamb. I used a can of kidney beans and a can of pinto. I also added a little masa paste to add some thickness. I will definitely make again.

My husband and roommates went absolutely crazy over this chili. I had made another chili recipe a few weeks earlier, but forgot to save that one. They told me this one was just as good. It was even better the next day. My husband said the next time I make it he wants it on a hotdog. Don’t be afraid to tweet this one. I did, but I’ve been cooking so much lately I forgot what I did! Just keep tasting and let your tastebuds tell you what you need. Oh! I did add some beef bouillon towards the end because it seemed like it needed more umami flavor. I think that’s what took this chili to the next level. So yummy!

Really, really good and very easy to make. I will be adding it to my favorites. I was out of chili powder, but found a recipe on line to make my own (2 Tbs paprika, 1/2 Tbs cumin, 1/2 Tbs garlic powder, 1 Tsp onion powder, 1 Tsp oregano, 3/4 Tsp cayenne powder). I used smoked paprika and it gave a wonderful smoky flavor to the chili. It made enough for the 3 Tbs of chili powder called for in the recipe. I omitted the cumin and oregano called for in the recipe since I had used them for the chili powder. I also used a little Cajun spice and some ground black pepper to season the ground beef. I simmered it longer than 20 minutes and it thickened up nicely. Served with Fritos, corn bread, shredded cheddar cheese; unfortunately I didn’t have any sour cream. I’m tossing all my other chili recipes!

I modified with more garlic to taste, a heavy hand with seasonings, used the entire can of tomato paste added roasted corn and used pork sausage instead of beef. The family loved it with a side of classic cast iron bake cornbread.

It is delicious I added 2 jalapeños and Mexican pintos instead of red kidney beans. I also used ancho chili powder 1T, green Chili Powder 1T, and red chili powder 1T instead of 3 Tablespoons of just red chilies.

Simple, hearty, tasty! Husband-approved. I added 2 additional fam of beans, a little spicy salsa verde, and some seasoned salt to the batch to add more flavor.
