It took a while to thicken up. We were surprised that the coffee didn’t have an aftertaste to it.

This turned out a bit too spicy and watery. Had to put in an extra can of beans so my husband can eat it more comfortably (I like spicy food though, so for me it was tolerable but it is definitely a spicy experience you need to be prepared for. I wasn't looking for one in this comforting dish). Next time I would use just 1 tablespoon chili powder, half jalapeño, 2 cans of beans, decrease the amount of coffee (you don't want to get much coffee even before bedtime), and decrease the amount of beef broth. Otherwise very straightforward, quick recipe that will last for at least 2 days dinner and the leftovers will freeze well for future quick dinners. I love that you most likely have almost all the ingredients on hand.
