- 1 onion
- 1 salt (½ tsp, adjust to your taste)
- 1 tsp. turmeric powder
- 2 Tbsp. grated coconut
- 2 Tbsp. gram dal (Roasted, Pottukadalai / Dhaliya)
- 1 tsp. cumin seeds
- 2 Tbsp. oil (preferably cocout oil)
- 1 tsp. mustard seeds
- urad dal (unchecked½ tsp Split)
- bengal gram (unchecked½ tsp Split, Channa Dal / Kadalaparuppu)
- 1 red chili (adjust to your spice level)
- 1 sprig curry leaves
