  • 2 cups raisins
  • 2 ounces semi sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup butter (chopped, at room temperature)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 7 ounces semi sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 6 tablespoons butter (chopped)

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch tube pan.
    2. Place raisins and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan on high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 10 mins. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate, cinnamon, baking soda, vanilla and cloves. Set aside to cool.
    3. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
