- 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder (high-quality)
- 1 pinch salt (about 1/8 teaspoon)
- 1 pinch baking soda (about 1/8 teaspoon )
- 2 Tbsp. egg (whisked, optional, see notes - 1 egg is too much)
- 3 Tbsp. milk
- 3 Tbsp. oil (I suggest vegetable or coconut, oils like olive will have too much flavor or melted unsalted butter)
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla (or other flavoring such as cinnamon, coffee, peppermint, almond, etc.)
- 3 Tbsp. chocolate chips (or other candy or chopped up candy bars, optional, but adds more flavor)

this works perfectly every time.. i use gluten free flour and its great! and pop a marshmellow on top before microwaving as a treat. Perfect for after school when you have nothing on hand. i double it for our family but i never use the egg
