  • 280 milliliters warm water
  • 1 tablespoon oil (NOT olive oil)
  • 1 tablespoon spring onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (finely chopped root)
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chinese rice wine (but I like dry sherry too)
  • 1 tablespoon bean paste (yellow)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons five spice powder
