- 1/4 cup softened butter (or a combination of butter and canola/vegetable oil; butter & lard; just lard; or 3 T oil)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. yeast
- 1 eggs (beaten with a teaspoon of water, milk, or cream, optional, for topping)
- 1/4 cup seeds (sesamie, poppy seeds, onion flakes, or a mix, optional)
