Great recipe! But of course I doctered it up. I did half butter, half shortening for a more savory flavor, cold of course! Used brown sugar instead of white. I also added rolled oats to get more crunch and fiber. I made the cherry filling from scratch: sugar, corn starch, water, chopped cherries, and BOURBON! (don't skip the whiskey! it makes the dish, even if you don't like whiskey and or used canned stuff.) I made the batter then pressed it into the pan and baked it for 15 min first, then I added the cherry mixture and the topping and baked it for another 30min. I also added more crunchy granola to the top with flax and pumpkin seeds. Delicious!
