Description
Inside every Southern pantry, you’ll undoubtedly find grits. For the uninitiated, grits are similar to oatmeal in its consistency. It’s a soft, smooth and creamy dish, typically served warm. It’s made from maize corn, and on its own, grits have a plain but earthy flavor. That’s why choosing the right grits recipe is so important. Grits will reflect the flavors of almost any ingredient you use to spice up your batch. That’s exactly why you have to be so discerning. Anyone can toss a stick of butter and maple syrup into a pot of boiling grits. But that’s not a recipe you’re likely to hand down to your kids and their kids. But we have a recipe that will definitely become a family favorite…
Our cheese sausage grits recipe tastes as delicious as you would expect. Sharp cheddar cheese and sour cream give it a rich, savory flavor. And Jimmy Dean® Regular Premium Pork Sausage gives the recipe a rich, smoky flavor. When combined, these ingredients are perfectly homogenous.
The only complaint we’ve ever had about this recipe was that the sausage could be spicier. That’s not a problem. Jimmy Dean® has several sausage varieties you can use in your cheesy sausage grits recipe, like this Premium Pork Hot Sausage. We also like using Jimmy Dean® Premium Pork Country Mild in our grits because it bolsters the traditional Southern delicacy.
