- 4 cups cherries (frozen or fresh, I used frozen dark cherries)
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 4 tsp. cornstarch
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cacao powder (unsweetened)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/4 tsp. Morton Coarse Kosher Salt (1 teaspoon if you’re using regular table salt)
- 2 eggs (at room temperature)
- 1 cup whole milk (at room temperature)
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 1/2 cup goat cheese (at room temperature, or 4 ounces)
- 1/4 cup cream cheese (at room temperature, or 2 ounces)
- 4 cups powdered sugar (2 to)
- 1/4 tsp. salt (or to taste)
