- 1 lb. shelled pistachios (toasted)
- 1/2 lb. walnuts (shelled, toasted)
- 1/2 lb. blanched almonds (toasted)
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. salt (only if using unsalted pistachios)
- 1 lb. unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 pkg. phyllo dough (sheets thawed according to package instructions)
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 orange blossom
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 lemon
- 2 orange peel (long strips of, removed from an orange with a vegetable peeler)
- 1 cinnamon stick (broken into a couple of pieces)
- 1 cardamom pod (lightly smashed with the side of the knife to gently crush it)
- 1 whole clove
