- 2 heads small cabbage (Korean, or 1 medium size napa cabbage)
- 10 oz. beef stew meat (chuck roast)
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil (for frying meat if beef is very lean)
- 11 cups water (or anchovy stock or rice water)
- 6 Tbsp. soybean paste (Korean, Doenjang)
- 1 Tbsp. miso
- 3 Tbsp. chopped garlic
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 3 green onions
