- 0.5 kilograms medium tomato (or 6, tamatar, chopped or puree)
- 0.5 kilograms medium potato (or 4, aloo, cubbed and fried)
- 1 onion (fried, for garnishing, optional)
- 1/2 cup yogurt (dahi, whipped)
- 1 3/4 cups oil
- 2 Tbsp. ginger paste (adrak)
- 2 Tbsp. garlic paste (lahsun)
- 2 Tbsp. chilli paste (green, choti hari mirch)
- 1 tsp. chilli powder (red, lal mirch)
- 1/2 Tbsp. cumin (zeera)
- 2 Tbsp. coriander powder (dhanya)
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric (haldi)
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper (sabut kali mirch)
- 8 cloves (laung)
- 2 inches cinnamon stick (dal cheeni)
- 7 chillies (round red, gol lal mirch)
- 1 handful coriander (green, chopped - dhanya)
- 2 green chilli (medium, thick slices)
- 5 boiled eggs (large, anday)
- 1 medium onion (golden fried for garnishing, lal piyaz, optional)
