- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. canela
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg (freshly)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 cup shortening (I use those sticks from Crisco - no mess measuring!)
- 5 Tbsp. cold water (I use ICE water - and sometimes I only need 3 T. water, especially if it's humid.)
- 1 Tbsp. half and half
- 1 Tbsp. sugar

I actually substituted regular flour with almond flour for a gluten-free pie and it came out fantastic!
The Crisco sticks are the key ingredient the way my grandmother used to bake !
