- 1 cup okra (Sliced, rounds, dipped in cornmeal)

- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 large garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 dash cayenne
- 2 cups bulgur
- 2 cups warm water
- 3 cups black eyed peas (cooked, see below)
- 1 cup tomatoes (diced cooked, canned is okay)
- 1 cup parsely (chopped fresh, and/or cilantro)
- 1/2 cup red onion (chopped)
- 1/2 cup toasted walnuts (chopped)
- 1 Tbsp. sambal olek (more or less, according to taste)
- salt
- pepper
- 1 cup sweet potato (cooked, but not overcooked, diced, optional)
- 1 cup sausage slices (fried spicy, either meat-based or vegetarian, optional)
- black eyed peas (Dried)
- water
- bay leaf
- onion (Small, cut in quarters)
- black peppercorns (count them or wrap them in cheesecloth)
- hot pepper (A small dried)
- salt
