- chillies (dried Kashmiri)
- canela
- coriander seeds
- cumin seeds
- fennel seeds
- seeds (ajwain, carom seeds)
- cloves
- green cardamom pods
- black cardamom
- star anise
- mace
- black peppercorns
- 2 bay leaf (dried, read post explanation)
- 3 chillies (dried Kashmiri, or any dried, non smoky chillies)
- 1 mace blade (or 1 tsp, if yours is in broken pieces)
- 1 star anise (medium)
- 1 cinnamon stick (small, about 5cm, 2 inches)
- 5 cloves
- 6 green cardamom pods
- 1 black cardamom
- 1 Tbsp. coriander seeds
- 1 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp. fennel seeds
- 1/4 seeds (ajwain, omit if unavailable)
- 1 tsp. black peppercorns (or half, for a milder masala)
