- 1/3 cup dark brown sugar

- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 3/4 cups cake flour (I was out and used all-purpose and it worked great)
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup cake flour (ditto on the all-purpose flour–worked just fine)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. softened butter (cut into 8 pieces.)

I made this with banana rather than rhubarb. It turned out okay... The final result is more crumb than cake. This could be a good thing but neither the crumb nor the cake are great. I won’t be making this again and will stick with another recipe for coffee cake.
