- 3 oz. extra-virgin olive oil (the best you can find in your grocery store)
- 1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- 4 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
- 8 fresh basil leaves (large)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup Parmigiano Reggiano (grated fresh, not the pre-grated stuff this time, sorry!)
- 1 lb. spaghetti (cooked al dente in well-salted water)
- garlic bread (optional, but sooooo desirable)
