- 2 onions (medium size, approximately 300 gm., peeled and roughly chopped)
- 1/2 inch ginger (piece of, peeled)
- 3 cloves garlic (optional, peeled)
- 2 medium tomatoes (approximately 80 gm. each, chopped finely or 200 gm. tinned tomatoes.)
- 3 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 tsp. cumin seeds (* See note 1)
- 1 pinch asafoetida (don't worry, if you don't have this)
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder (too much makes the curry bitter)
- 1/4 tsp. chilli powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 1/2 tsp. coriander powder
- salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. Garam Masala
- 2 Tbsp. coriander leaves (fresh, chopped)
