I played with the cheese until I got the consistency I wanted. I used sharp cheddar, Gruyere, parmigiana and cream cheese along with the heavy cream and butter. I added a little nutmeg, a little cayenne and about a T of Worcester sauce to taste. I think the heavy cream and the cream cheese put this over the top.

I cooked the noodles for just a minute longer and used half sharp and half mild cheddar. Even our pickiest eater loved it. Yum!!!

Creamy and delicious. I made 3 servings and it came out really well. I baked the Mac and cheese for 10 mins and then added the bread crumbs and baked for another 15.

I had to substitute heavy cream for heavy whipping cream and I used 3 cups Colby cheese and 3 cups cheddar. It came out super creamy and crunchy. I will definitely make it again!

Yummy. I added some garlic powder and onion and used half and half instead of heavy cream. Probably a week’s worth of fat per serving.

My daughter and I liked it. Not my fave but very easy and not spicy for the kids as no onions. The topping was yummy especially. My son and husband, who are very picky, did not eat it.

I toned down the fat when I prepared this recipe. I didn’t have heavy cream on hand so I googled substitutions. Generally while cooking/baking I tend to fake it in terms of exact measures and ingredients. And that’s what I did here. My ingredients were: penne noodles, 1% lactose free milk, margarine, 5% sour cream, medium cheddar cheese, bread crumbs, seasoning salt. My version was tasty but probably not as tasty as the original recipe.
    Good and creamy. Love it

This recipe was easy to assemble; the only difference next time, I’ll add a second or third cheese type for more flavor.

I did not have enough heavy cream for the sauce so I substituted with milk and butter. It came out ok though very dry so I would recommend using only heavy cream with the other ingredients.

Came out really good, felt like I was using too much cheese but it turned out nice. Ended up adding 2 eggs, garlic salt and pepper for my own personal taste

Really delicious. I added a bit of freshly grated nutmeg and sauteed minced garlic to the cheese sauce and some dried thyme to the breadcrumbs on top. Cheese was a combo of sharp cheddar, gruyere, and parmesan. Salted the pasta water very well and the sauce didn't need any additional salt. Breadcrumbs were panko, parm, and thyme tossed with a bit of olive oil before sprinkling on top. Works great with gluten-free pasta as well, just make sure to undercook it in the water so that it doesn't turn to mush in the bake.
