- 1 onion (large, finely diced)

- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 btl. stout beer (or dark porter, or use 3/4 cup bourbon, brandy, or scotch)
- 15 oz. crushed tomatoes (I used fire-roasted)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 6 oz. tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp. ground coffee
- 15 oz. black beans
- 1 cup corn (fresh, frozen, or canned, optional)
