- 1/3 cup milk (warm, Both water and milk should be at around 90-100F)
- 1 tsp. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg (freshly)
- 1 apple (chopped small)
- 1 banana (large, cut in half lengthwise and sliced)
- 2 tsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup sugar (mixed with 1 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon)
- dulce de leche (to drizzle)
- 1 qt. oil (or 4 cups shortening to fry beignets)
