This recipe is not too sweet, which is great. However, it was pretty bland, spice-wise. I added an 1/8 teaspoon of allspice to the dry ingredients. I made some buttermilk & used that instead of regular milk. I also drizzled some molasses over the topping & added some dried cranberries. It took about 35-40 minutes to bake. I cut it into squares & served it warm with some Greek yogurt & maple syrup. Next time I will use a full teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. I will also try almondmilk for a little more richness. In addition, think I will try chopping some of the apples & mix them into the batter, and use the rest of the apples as a topping.
After making the above changes, I'm giving this recipe five stars. I used almond milk, a teaspoon of apple pie spice, added some raisins, & mixed in a chopped, peeled apple to the wet ingredients. I topped the oatmeal with walnuts & a drizzle of maple syrup=perfect! Will definitely make this again.
