I made square cookies instead of round ones so that there isn't a lot of waste like there is in making round cookies caused by the space between the cookies even if they touch when cutting out.

I wouldn't go through all the trouble of making these cookies and use apple pie filling. Use real apples. I'm not sure I read this right, take out the apples from the sauce and chop into small pieces? Huh? Who wrote this recipe?
