A better-for-you alternative to the traditional British treat. Absolutely perfect to finish off a cracking Sunday Roast or family meal time.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams porridge oats (Pertwood Farm Organic)
  • 2 teaspoons maca powder (The Earth Superfoods)
  • 4 tablespoons yacon syrup (The Earth Superfoods)
  • 200 grams unsalted butter (cubed at room temperature)
  • 1 knob butter (for greasing)
  • 450 grams apples (peeled, cored and cut into 1cm/½in pieces)
  • 50 grams brown sugar (unrefined)
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground ginger

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4
    2. Place the Porridge Oats and Yacon in a large bowl and mix well. Take a few cubes of butter at a time and rub into the Oat mixture. Keep rubbing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Mix in the Maca Powder once done
    3. Place the apples in a large bowl and sprinkle over the sugar, ginger and cinnamon. Stir well being careful not to break up the apples
    4. Butter a 24cm/9in ovenproof dish. Spoon the apple mixture into the bottom, then sprinkle the crumble mixture on top
    5. Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes until the crumble is browned and the apple mixture bubbling
