- 1 lb. pasta (box of radiatori, – cooked)
- 1 whole wheat pita (or 2 slices whole wheat bread)
- 2 Tbsp. cooked bacon (crumbled, press in paper towel to remove extra fat)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 shallot (large, diced, you could use onions but shallots add much better flavor)
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
- 3 cups 2% milk (You could sub fat free or whole depending on your preference)
- 6 oz. smoked gouda (grated, sharp cheddar would also work)
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- salt
- pepper
- 1 dash nutmeg
