Description
If you’re craving crispy french fries but don’t want the mess of deep frying (or the large quantity of oil required), this recipe has your name on it. The air fryer cooks up the fries to golden perfection using only 2 tablespoons of olive oil. For the most crispy texture, soak the cut potatoes in water for an hour before frying, pat them completely dry, and then cook them in a single layer. Then dunk away in ketchup or another favorite sauce. The recipe is a Yummly original created by Ashley Strickland Freeman.
Ingredients
- 2 large russet potatoes (about 2 1/4 lb.)
- 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- ketchup
Directions
- Leave potato skins on, or peel them if you like. Cut potatoes lengthwise into 1/4-inch-thick sticks. Place them in a large bowl with cold tap water to cover and let them stand for 1 hour.
- Drain potatoes and spread them out in a single layer on a sheet pan lined with kitchen towels or paper towels. Pat potatoes completely dry with the towels.
- Set the basket in place in an air fryer. Close the lid and program the air fryer to 375°F for 17 minutes. Preheat according to instructions for your air fryer.
