This one is usually popular with my family and when I take it to meetings. I don't top with the second can of pie filling. Instead I dust with powdered sugar. Make sure to really mix the pie filling in as if it clumps together you have uncooked looking gloppy spots in your cake. I have substitute the almond extract with vanilla and that works fine. I have also used about three cups of homemade pie filling in this recipe instead of a can of store bought. That works just fine.
