- 1 cup brown lentils (cooked, mashed or pureed)
- 1 1/4 cups vital wheat gluten (I always buy a box of 4 packages to keep them on hand.)
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. anise seeds (you can also use 1 tablespoon crushed fennel seeds)
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes (my favorite is chipotle)
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika (regular paprika will do)
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. dried tarragon
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 Tbsp. tamari soy sauce
